Knee Decompression in Willowbrook
Climbing stairs. Gardening. Just getting out of a chair. If stiff, achy knees have started slowing down everyday activities, you’re not alone. Many of our patients at DuPage Pain Management, Ltd. have lived with knee soreness for years, often after trying other treatments that didn’t bring lasting relief. We know how frustrating it is when your knees hold you back from the things you love, and we’re here to help you move more freely again.
What Is Knee Decompression?
Knee decompression is a gentle, non-invasive traction therapy that separates the knee joint to relieve pressure and encourage healing in the surrounding tissue. Patients often describe the feeling afterward as if the joint has been “oiled,” with noticeably looser, smoother movement. Sessions run about 12 minutes and happen right in our office.
How It Helps
Knee decompression eases joint stress and helps restore comfortable movement. Our patients often turn to this therapy for:
- Arthritis in the knee
- Meniscus tears
- Tendinitis
- Runner’s knee
- General knee soreness and stiffness
Many patients notice improved range of motion right after their first session, along with less inflammation and better overall joint comfort. One note: if you’ve already had a knee replacement, this particular therapy isn’t a fit for you.
What to Expect at Your Visit
Your first visit starts with a thorough consultation and exam so Dr. Mersinger can understand your history and goals. From there, we take bilateral knee X-rays (both knees) so we can compare them and get a clear picture of what’s going on. Once we’ve confirmed you’re a good candidate, you’ll begin your knee decompression sessions right away. Coverage and cost depend on your individual insurance plan, and our team is happy to walk you through your options.
